Performance Evaluation

Through out this first term I have already learnt many new skills and techniques and had lots of fun doing so. Everything has happened so fast but the other night all we have learnt came together for our production of the Witness.

I was every happy with my performance and felt that I fulfilled all of my objectives confidently and used my voice and body to connect with the audience clearly. I felt that I could have improved my performance by exploring  more emotions and different ways of portraying my character physically.
Because of all these things I think I have achieved a M4.

Acting Skills:

Voice Warms Ups (Sirening, Breathing and tongue twisters): Voice warm up techniques such as tongue twisters and sirening are good ways of preparing your voice for performing so you can fully project your voice so you are clear and be heard.

Physical Warm Ups

Cat stretch: This stretch involves you being on you had and knees and simultaneously flexing your back in and out. This stretch is a good way of relaxing your muscles and making you less stiff.

Rolling down the spine: this involves standing up straight and slowly rolling your neck and spine down so your arms are hanging and then slowly role back up and then repeat this about five times. This is a good way to relax your back so you are loose and relax

Character Creation Exercises

Research:  It is extremely important to research your character and the play.It is important to research your character so you have a better understanding of what is going in characters life and in the world around them. You can do this by reading the play and finding out what is happening in the news and world at the point in time your play is set as all these things could effect the way you portray your character.

Hot Seating: Hot seating is a technique used to get to know the character better and find out the truth about how they are actually feeling. You can do this exercise by choosing a person to sit on the chair and pretend to be their character. Then the rest of the group ask the character questions to find out more about them. I personally think this is good exercise as it allows the people to learn more about that character and how they are feeling and there opinion on things.

Create the previous scene: Creating the previous scene involves you thinking about what has happened in the scene before yours. This means that when you are performing your scene you can keep in mind what has happened in the scene before yours as these things can effect your performance.

Working with physical: To be a good actor you need to know the purpose of your character. Your character needs to have objectives so when you are performing you don't end up just standing around meaningfully waiting to say your lines.

Peer assessment

Kits Blog

1.  What do you think is the strongest part of the blog? This could be a certain post, the writing style, the graphic design, the use of alternative media, the images, etc. What makes this element so strong?

The thing I like about Kits character blog is the depth and detail she goes into. This allows people reading her blog to have a really clear idea of what Joseph is thinking and going through at that point in time. For example
'Oh my bloody hell. GUESS WHO TURNED UP AT MY DOOR TODAY. Simon. That’s who .
Iguess I should probably explain, when I visited Rwanda during the genocide when I was photographing the war zone when I came across Alex (I think I have mentioned her before) anyway, if I haven't she’s my I adopted daughter and I love her with all my heart but whilst I was there I also came across Alex’s older brother, I unfortunately couldn’t carry them both. Oh who am I kidding? I’m a horrible human ; the real reason I didn’t take Simon is because he would remember . He would remember me readjusting his dead mother to make a better photograph, to make art . to make money , what does that make me ?'

2.  Is there a part of the blog you find confusing? A part that doesn’t seem to quite match the rest or the character for which it was designed? A link for which you don’t understand the connection? Can you give some suggestions for how to improve that part?

There is no part of the blog that confusies me or I feel does not match the rest of the blog.

3.  After reading the blog, what would you like to know more about? Is there a post that leaves you with questions? Write down at least two questions to help your partner further develop this blog.

After reading the blog one thing i would like to know more about is the post that says 'I need a break from the loneliness that is slowly consuming me'. I think this post could have gone into more detail exactly why Joesph is feeling this and if this because he feels he does not see Alex enuff or because he wants a relationship in his life.
4.  Did you notice any major misspellings or grammatical issues? Please note down anything.

The only grammatical issues I noticed was that Kit didnt use capital I's when talking as Joseph.
5.  Did your partner fulfil all the requirements on the Character Blog Requirements handout?

As far as i am concerned Kit completed all of the requirments icludeing the images, four posts written from the perspective of your character from various points in the play and a header with a title that matches your character and blog content
